This is an amazing little store for all you locals that are interested in organic produce.  I recently heard about them and have made a couple of trips down Hwy 87 to visit.  Jenna Moran and her husband own and run the place, they are friendly and welcoming.  Their store hours are Wed. – Sat. 10:00 am to 6 pm, you can also find them on Facebook.  She sends out a newsletter once a month, if you  are interested you can email her at prairiehomegeneralstore@yahoo.com. Once a  month they go St. Louis and shop at Trader Joe’s , you can make an order and with a slight mark up have some pretty awesome food. She also has items from Trader Joe’s on her shelves.  I miss Trader Joe’s so much, that is the only thing I think I miss from the city, but now I have the option to shop there again.

Another thing they offer is a once a month order of fresh organic produce, the company is called Azure Standard, they make it so families with a normal income can afford to eat well.  You  have to subscribe to the website and call Jenna 1 660.841.5252 to get the drop number before ordering.  The orders are due at the end of the month and the order comes at 4:00 on the first Wed. of the month.  You have to be there for pick up but if some would need my help with that I would love to be of service. If anyone is interested in doing this I would like to try it.  A lot of the items are in bulk and could easily feed two families.

Ok, so that tells you about a lovely little shop that I bet you never heard about, it’s worth the ride out there.  I am going to blog about Ellis bakery on Friday.  Ellis is across the street from the General Store and has some amazing bread!  I need to go see Tim Davis the owner to get more specifics about his options for vegan bread–as soon as I do, I’ll provide an update right here!
